American Rover merges sculptural form, sound, and symbolism to evoke layered perceptions of American identity. Constructed from raw plywood, the piece presents a hand-painted American flag—a familiar yet fraught icon—set against a backdrop of an endlessly generative, non-repeating drone soundtrack. The audio element, embedded within the sculpture, creates a shifting emotional terrain, inviting prolonged engagement and reflection.

The juxtaposition of the flag’s bold visual language with the immersive, ambient soundscape encourages viewers to draw their own connections—between nationhood, repetition, permanence, and change. By resisting narrative closure, the work unsettles fixed meanings and opens space for contemplation, critique, or resonance, depending on the viewer's own perspective.

Part art object and sound device, the work plays with the preconceived notions of what is considered a sculpture. Having the auxiliary function of playing an audio track distracts from the object itself, is it a vessel for the sound only or are both parts equally important to the integrity of the piece?

Samples from NASA were used to created a droning soundtrack, the raw sounds taken from space clash with the soothing instruments layered on top. The track aims to make the listener think about somewhere other than where they are. The unique soundtrack lives with the piece and is set to loop indefinitely once the piece is powered.

“ISRU”- In Situ Ressource Utilisation is a concept coined by NASA and used (amongst others) by Tom Sachs, from whom inspiration for the piece was taken. From a limited list of tools in a Brooklyn studio, the work was created. Quotes indicate that ISRU cannot really be ISRU if one has access to hardware stores a few blocks away. But the spirit of the practice is still an important aspect of the process as an homage to both NASA and Sachs.

Projection mapping project created for Mapp MTL 2020. I used a metal grid a canvas to create generative visuals using TouchDesigner. The soundtrack was produced by me using Ableton Live. The goal was to create a 60sec sequence and the projects were presented during a livestream because of COVID.
